King Charlie

Torino, 2011
Charlie is the King, he does whatever he wants, he reigns above all of us. He's the dog of my girlfriend and he's wonderful! He was posing for me while I was taking some pictures out in the garden. He's a rare white golden retriever, he is 5 years old and he loves to play although he's actually lazy.

San Lorenzo

Piazza Castello, Torino, 2011
San Lorenzo church is in Piazza Castello in Turin. The church was dedicated to San Lorenzo after a Manuel Fililberto (House of Savoy) won in a battle on San Lorenzo's Day. The church though was already in the square Piazza Castello before.

Rainy Day

Giardini Reali, Torino, 2011
When Turin had like a week when it only rained, I went out one of those days to take pictures (one thing I hadn't done yet). I really liked it! There are so many possibilities and so many situations to take pictures to! It was fall although it seems like snow on winter, and the floor was all covered by the leafs from the trees, so it made all more unique.

Giulia Ambrogio

Torino, Italia, 2011
Giulia was my second model on a photo shoot session. It was a rainy day and the light was poor, it was really hard to take pictures but I managed to improvise a light reflector to get the best results... this is one of my favorite pictures...

Repubblica

Piazza della Repubblica, Torino, 2011
Another one from Torino. Since I haven't been traveling lately, I'm exploring more my city. Piazza della Repubblica is a very famous square in Torino, some say is the biggest open market in Europe and I believe it's true. At the end of the day, the vendors go and leave a lot of garbage in the floor that is cleaned afterwards by the city employees.

Factory

Torino, Italia, 2011
Another one from the abandoned factory (if you haven't seen the first one, click here: Nostalgia). This place was great, I was lucky that there was a great sunlight that created this strange feeling of being in a haunted mysterious place.

I still cannot find my favorite subject to take pictures to, but I'll find out.

Morning Light

Giardini Reali, Torino, 2011
The title is light, because without light, we couldn't take pictures. Photography is all about light, and of course the absence of it. When the sun is coming out in the morning or setting in the afternoon, the light makes some wonderful colors and tones, so I would say these are the best moments to take pictures.

Pattern

Via Lagrange, Torino, 2011
I just happen to be walking on this street and I had no idea some artists were presenting their work to the public. Torino is such a rich city!!

Mole

Giardini Reali, Torino, 2011
I had never taken pictures in autumn, since I've been into photography for not that long and my country (Venezuela) does not have the four seasons.
I went to this park in the middle of the city near to the center to try my new 50mm lens one morning, and this picture is one of the results... you can see the Mole Antonelliana in the background, the symbol of the city.

Praying

Santuario Basilica La Consolata, Torino, 2011
I have to say I never go to church, but I happen to be there because my relatives wanted to go inside... so I went and took some pictures. The church in the inside is really beautiful, one of the most beautiful churches in Torino. If you happen to come, be sure you don't miss it!

Victoria

Torino, 2011
Recently I had the opportunity to take some photos to a friend and college of mine, Victoria. This is one of my favorites... I really liked working with her

Stockholm

Stockholm, Sweden, 2011
On my trip to Stockholm (a beautiful city by the way), I had the chance to go to some unusual places since my tour guide was a local. While I was following his advice on where to go, I found myself on a nice view of the city... so I took the shot ! :)

Nostalgia

Torino, Italia, 2011
I had the chance to go inside an abandoned factory in Turin. I have to admit it was kinda scary but exciting at the same time... The place is being restructured at the moment but there are many things that haven't been touched yet, so you can see the whole structure just breaking down.

baby girl

Torino, Italia, 2011
This baby girl was not alone, she was just playing in the ground with nothing and having fun, but in this particular moment she got distracted with a pigeon and was kinda disgusted by him. Her parents were close watching her so there's nothing to worry about :)

Contrast

Torino, Italia, 2011
Contrast is the title of this picture, I simply leave it to you to find all the possible contrasts that there are...
By the way, the woman on the picture is my grandmother... I love her :)

Bella Torino

Piazza Palazzo di Città, Torino, 2011
I have always said Torino is a beautiful city, but is a good thing to remind it every once in a while... This is the square Palazzo di Città, where there are this cubes hanging with the colors of the italian flag. In the evening they illuminate the whole square and make a wonderful effect.

Homeless?

Brno, Czech Republic, 2011
This guy was sleeping on a bench, and you may believe he's homeless but I have my doubts... I don't know if he was homeless or not but I guess the hair and some teeth missing make you believe he indeed is homeless.

Thunderstorm

Torino, 2011
Like a month ago, a thunderstorm passed right trough Torino, above my apartment lasted no more than 20 minutes... time enough to take some incredible pictures to the lightnings... I had the cance to capture some amazing ones, this is just one of them... enjoy!

Ray

Alassio, Italia
Another one from Alassio. I have been kinda busy lately so I wasn't able to post any picture, I'll try to post more pictures in these next few days... Anyways, this picture was taken at Alassio in the summer, an old abandoned house in the hills while I was exploring around with the dogs. Hope you like it :)

DOF

Bratislava, Slovakia, 2011
I like flowers a lot, but mostly because of the colors... I also like playing with the depth of field (DOF) when taking pictures, and this a great example of the effect you can give in a picture when using so little depth of field.

Bikes

Aosta, Italia, 2011
Aosta is a cute little city in the northwest region of Italy. It's known because of its proximity to the swiss alps as well as being a very wealthy city. Nonetheless you get to see places like this were everything looks odd and out of the ordinary. These bikes are parked just outside the entrance of a building.

Moonlight

Bratislava, Slovakia
I just happened to be at the right place at the right time... a beautiful moon was growing in the sky while it was getting darker and darker. The bridge was perfectly placed to take a picture with the moon behind it. I should take more of these pictures.

Contrast

Piazza Carducci, Torino, 2011
I happened to be at piazza Carducci when the sun was setting, and it created such a high contrast with the city that was starting to illuminate itself... I liked the colors and the high contrast that was created with the picture...

Getting out

Lyon, France, 2011
I took this picture back in July, and I already posted another picture with a child playing with the water in the same place... this one is a bit different though, since this child was caught (actually he made it on purpose) by the water in the spot were it grew really fast... so when it was too much, he moved away getting out of the water. Look at the expression in his face, is like saying, ok that's enough let's get the hell out!

Light

Alassio, Italia, 2011
This was my first experiment doing HDR photography (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/High_dynamic_range_imaging), which is a very interesting way of taking pictures... and although I don't like that much photography post-editing, I have to admit is really fun working on a HDR photography. I hope you like my first HDR picture on this abandoned house/library in Alassio.

Slide

Budapest, 2011
This kid was having so much fun sliding with the fountain water... he was actually really agile! Fountains in a good summer day are an attraction to kids, they like to get wet and play with the water... There were other kids playing as well, but this one was the most fun to see and photograph.

Architecture

Torino, 2010
As I have said before, Torino is a beautiful city, its architecture is mainly baroque and almost all of its main buildings were built in the eighteenth/nineteenth century. This building is a good example of how splendid this city is... you just have to see it for yourself.

Old church

Brno, Czech Republic, 2011
This is the Cathedral of St. Peter and Paul in Brno, is a very very very old church that started as a Roman style church and ended up being rebuilt many times until its present Gothic style. This is on the top of the church where you get a nice overview of the city and where this strange kind of room is.

Skeleton

Via murazzi, Torino, 2011
Torino is a safe city, but bicycles are not safe... they are always stolen and sold again and again... Some though, are less lucky since they have some of their parts removed and then no one comes for them. You get to see a lot of these in the city... still, Torino is a safe city.

Kitchen

Alassio, Italia, 2011
I spotted this abandoned house in Alassio the other day and I loved taking pictures inside of it. It seems it was like an old restaurant or something, I really don't know. What I do know is that the upper floor was a library, and maybe even an English library. Anyways, and changing the subject, I migrated to RAW, which makes the post-editing super easy. I wasn't used to do post-editing and I regret not to have done it before.

Relax

Toledo, Spain, 2010
Time to relax on a beautiful afternoon in the main square of Toledo, such a particular town over a hill in Spain, really close to Madrid... if you ever get the chance to go to Madrid, don't miss this wonderful spot.

Concentrated

Plaza del Sol, Madrid, 2010
This kid was concentrated watching some street music band playing in Plaza del Sol. He wasn't quite smiling but he wasn't serious, he just seemed concentrated following the rhythm of the music. He looks like an adult...

Thursday, August 25, 2011

Color

Catedral de la Almudena, Madrid, 2010
This is an old picture of my trip to Madrid that I did last year... while I was reviewing them, I noticed how my photography has changed over the months... I don't know if I have improved or not, but my pictures are kinda different. I guess I'm looking at things slightly different now...

Superga

Superga, Torino, 2011
The Basilica of Superga is a beautiful and very well known church in Turin. The most common thing you hear about it is the plane crash that happened on the 4th May 1949 with the Torino Football Club, also known as Il Grande Torino, where all of the passengers unfortunately died.

Tuesday, August 16, 2011

Doomed

Bratislava, Slovakia, 2011
Bratislava has a very nice big size chess in the middle of a square which the name I cannot recall, but it's in front of the US embassy. Anyways, this guy was playing against a friend and they played kinda fast to be a gigantic chessboard, at the end I don't know who won but this guy was playing with such confidence that I had to take a picture.

Monday, August 15, 2011

reflection

Marguareis, Italia, 2011
Marguareis is a mountain in the Alta Valle Pesio e Tenaro natural park in Piedmont, Italy. It has a bunch of itineraries and paths to cover, with beautiful sight views in the middle of the valley mountains. I took this picture on an area with a small lake surrounded with snow in the summer, which was quite amazing.

Elder steps

Lyon, 2011
Lyon has a wonderful riverfront to walk and enjoy the view of the city. You get to see a lot of people walking by or cycling... not to forget the beautiful color of the river Rhone. This elder was walking through the riverfront very very slow with a paused rhythm, a funny face and the sandals with a suit. It makes him a very interesting subject.

Thursday, August 11, 2011

Il Po

Po, Torino, 2011
This is the Po river, the longest river that goes through Italy... starts at Piemont and ends at Veneto. This is the view of the river from piazza Vittorio Veneto to the church Gran Madre...

Wednesday, August 10, 2011

Baba

Piazza Carlo Alberto, Torino, 2011
Torino is full of drinkable water fountains, so people always go there to refresh themselves... like this little girl that was thirsty after driving her bike in the middle of the square...

Sunday, August 7, 2011

Train station

Sturovo, 2011
Sturovo is a small city on the border between Slovakia and Hungary, small east european cities seem to have been stuck in time, since a lot of things look old, like this train station.

Thursday, August 4, 2011

Sleep

Budapest, 2011
When you're tired you're able to sleep in any strange position and actually in any strange condition... Actually if you look closer it doesn't seem so uncomfortable... well, sucks to sleep in the middle of the street.

freedom

Skansen, Stockholm, 2011
I don't like zoos 'cause they're so sad, but when I went to Skansen, one of the biggest open museums in the world, I didn't know they had animals in the inside... these monkeys were looking outside the window like craving their freedom, and this is one of the reasons I believe zoos are so sad.

Monday, August 1, 2011

Bridge

Stary most, Bratislava, 2011
This is the oldest bridge over the Danubio, the Old Bridge. It was severely damaged after the WWII and when Bratislava was freed by the Red Army, some German prisoners and Russian soldiers rebuilt the bridge. The bridge hasn't changed since because of the lack of funds. When you walk trough it you get the feeling of how old is it. It's like traveling to the war years.

Sunday, July 31, 2011

Upset

Le Saint Nizie, Lyon, 2011
Some kids were playing outside the church after the mass, but this fellow was upset who knows why... He kinda looks like a kid from war time, thirties, forties... He was looking at the rest of the gang playing and having fun, but he was too proud to join them again.

Thursday, July 28, 2011

Crappy weather

Czech Republic, 2011
We were heading from Slovakia to Czech Republic by train, we had just past the border and our ticket was until Breclav, which was the last stop before our destiny: Brno. It was a crappy rainy day and we managed to get to Brno without paying ticket just because the woman who checks the tickets was good with us and told us that we didn't have to pay a dime. GOOD

Tuesday, July 26, 2011

Lightning

Budapest, Hungary, 2011
You know when you find yourself in a thunderstorm and you say like: "fu**, I wish I were some place else and not here getting wet like an ass...", well, this was the perfect opportunity to catch some lightnings falling on the city of Budapest.

Sunday, July 24, 2011

Eastern Europe

Bratislava, Slovakia, 2011
I thought eastern Europe was more like this street corner, but it wasn't in Bratislava, although I found some small streets like this one. I guess most of the people have this idea about eastern Europe, and maybe it is like this, but you'd be amazed with some of the beautiful things you can see in this region.

Smile

Lyon, France, 2011
I caught this guy watching his kids (hope so) playing on a park, and he was having so much fun! He has such a weird face though!

Saturday, July 16, 2011

Hospital beds

Lyon, France, 2011
This is totally not what it looks like, meaning that this is not a hospital, and these are not beds at all, actually this place doesn't even exist, because it's just a miniature model of a hospital room in the miniature museum in Lyon! pretty amazing isn't it? There were so many impressive models, it was just incredible.

Dancing

Piazza Navona, Roma, Italia, 2011
Dancing because after showing the picture to my cousin Ricardo, he told me: "That's a woman dancing!", and he's right, it looks like a woman dancing, can you see it?... It remembered me when I look at the clouds and I try to give a sense to the shapes...
